Dedicated teachers have brought culture to this previously backwards, deprived region.

5/15/15 To the deafening chant of "Hellas Berlin, Hellas Berlin,Hasan! Hasan! Hellas Berlin!" and pumped up to near hysteria by the example of Hasan's 24 points in the championship game, my students took to the soccer field today. Although outclassed in soccer skills but not in brain power, my 7th and 8th graders defeated several significantly stronger, larger Spanish (and of course, French - no challenge there) teams. The greatest victory was achieved by my 8th graders, who stunned and left utterly demoralized an unbeaten, over-confident Spanish team, with Hasan-wannabe Walker scoring both goals. It was no less a defeat than that suffered by the Spanish Armada in 1588. T-shirt of the day went to Adam C with his truly heart-warming and team-inspiring portrayal of our glorious leader on the back of his T-shirt.
