Audio pronunciation of Oberpfaffelbachen. Can you pronounce it?
I've never been to Oberpfaffelbachen, but I did visit Pfaffenwinkel a few summers ago to see the beautiful Wieskirche (church) nearby.
Hello!
I am Franz Brendl,
founder/owner/creator/manager/visionary/executive
director of Brendl Events, the most amazing events
marketing company in all of Bavaria and beyond. I am
hearing that you want to put me on the cover of your
magazine “LOOP” and do a big article about my Ramp
and .
That is spectacularly! You will most certainly sell
millions of magazines because of me.
Sit down and I
will be telling you all about me and my genius
ideas. Last year, I was hearing that BMW was
launching the new 1 Series in America, and a million
light bulbs went off in my head. My motto is “Think
Big®.” So I said to myself, Brendl, you must build a gigantisch ramp to launch the BMW 1 Series from Bavaria to
America. That’s right, my friend - from Bavaria to
America! And when I told my village of
Oberpfaffelbachen about my genius Ramp, they started
building it immediately. You’ve never heard anything
of this amazing, no?
But it gets better. I then had the genius idea to
hold a festival called Rampenfest. A festival bigger
than Octoberfest, bigger than Christmas!
Now, I’m
not liking to brag, but just as I had to make a
movie about me and my Ramp. He promised to put me on
the big screen and making me famous in Hollywood.
But after “The Ramp” was released, he is receive all
the credit for my genius idea. Magazines like LOOP
are contacting him for big interviews and not me.
Without my Ramp, without my Rampenfest, without my
big head full of amazing ideas, there would be no
spectacular documentary for the world to fall in
love with. I am knowing you are telling yourself,
“At least Brendl has gotten rich from the Ramp.” But
you would be wrong. Everyone else in my village is
getting cartloads of money but me.
The Mayor of
Oberpfaffelbachen launched a new website and is
getting bombarded by visitors. Sepp, the coward
stunt driver, has a website and everyone thinks he
is the “cool.” Even Evi, the souvenir shop owner,
created an online Rampenfest store and now she is
driving a shiny new auto with all her buckets of
money. Even Peter’s Bakerei business is booming with
his new website. But if you think Franz Brendl will
sit back, you are not knowing me. I’ve made my own
website so companies big and small can be contacting
me for my genius ideas. And with this article here
in the LOOP, together we can let the world know that
I am responsible for all these genius things
happening, or? If you are having any questions or
liking to be contacting me, please do. I am looking
forward to your article.

Brendl Events
From Franz Brendl's blog on Twitter 2008 leading up to the launch - read from the bottom up
For centuries, the tiny village of Oberpfaffelbachen, Bavaria, has been known for its agriculture and baked goods. Unfortunately, cows and cookies don’t attract the tourist dollars. But upon learning of BMW’s big plan to launch the European 1 Series for the first time in America, the town hatched an idea that would change its destiny forever. The idea was simple: build a gigantic Ramp to launch the new BMW 1 Series from Bavaria to America. Literally. This momentous event would be held during Rampenfest, a festival so big and amazing that it would attract press from around the globe, foreign dignitaries and millions of tourists with wallets full of money. Oberpfaffelbachen would soon be mentioned along side Paris, London and Disney World as a premier tourist destination. In the fall of 2007, a young American documentary filmmaker, Jeff Schultz, traveled to Oberpfaffelbachen and filmed the townspeople, the Ramp and the bizarre events that would unfold during Rampenfest.
Featuring the overconfident Events Manager named Franz Brendl, the town’s naïve mayor Loisl Eder, the local construction owner Hans Unterholzner and his dimwitted stunt driver son Sepp and finally, Evi Gruber, a down on her luck single mother who invested her life savings in Ramp souvenirs. And over the course of five days, we filmed the story of a ridiculous idea and the gullible town that sunk every dime they owned to make it a reality. There was an Oberpfaffelbachen tourism commercial, a CaféPress store so fans could buy Ramp merchandise, a movie premiere, and they even held a “Miss Ramp” beauty pageant to further engage.
ABOUT
Beautiful. Dynamic. Friendly. Agricultural. Unique. These are just a few of the words to describe magnificent Oberpfaffelbachen. A beacon for tourism, commerce and freshly baked goods, Oberpfaffelbachen is a small town with big city dreams. We think you’ll agree – you could search all through Bavaria and never find a town as unique as Oberpfaffelbachen.
HISTORY OF OBERPFAFFELBACHEN
The Second Settlement: Few towns in the world boast such a rich and storied history as Oberpfaffelbachen. Nestled in the heart of Bavaria, it was founded in 725 AD by German settler Albrecht von Fraundehofer. Unbeknownst to Albrecht, the land that made up Oberpfaffelbachen had already been founded and abandoned some 80 years earlier by settlers who found the soil less than ideal for farming. But Albrecht’s stubbornness would later earn him the nickname “The Father of Oberpfaffelbachen” by his family.
Over the following decades, the population of Oberpfaffelbachen would grow steadily due mostly to the fertility of Albrecht’s wife – Adalinda – who would earn the nickname “The Mother of Oberpfaffelbachen” by her family.
Despite a limited education, Albrecht kept detailed records chronicling the history of Oberpfaffelbachen. He believed that a prosperous future was dependent on a strong knowledge of the past. Upon his death, Albrecht passed down the detailed records and historian duties to Deitmar, his oldest son. Through the generations, the title of Historian was the most revered profession in all of Oberpfaffelbachen.
The Missing Years: 1018 AD – 1903 AD
Unfortunately, Albrecht’s great-great-great grandson Helmut von Fraundehofer did not share the same respect for history as his predecessors. In 1018, in a dispute over wheat rations, Helmut fled town taking the entire history of Oberpfaffelbachen with him, never to return. Outraged at Helmut, the Duke of Oberpfaffelbachen banned history from the town – a law that stood for nearly 900 years. While the majority of townspeople still revere Albrecht von Fraundehofer and his contributions to this town, there is a small group that believes the entire story is a fable meant to cover up the fact that for 1300 years, no one remembered to write anything down.
The Great Barn Fire of 1968:
On the night of June 13th, 1968 tragedy struck our wonderful village. Jonas Huber, our beloved police chief and fire marshal was called to the home of Tobais Bauer to extinguish his Barn Fire. Any other fire marshal would have contained the blaze and gone home for the evening, but Jonas Huber was no ordinary fire marshal. After noticing that the barn was full of livestock, he put aside his own safety and common sense to save the lives of seven cows and 14 chickens. But while rescuing the eighth cow, the barn collapsed and our heroic Jonas could not escape. Jonas will forever be remembered in Oberpflaffelbachen and his memory lives on through his courageous wife Vreni Huber, his eldest son Harald Huber and his beautiful daughter Irmgard. We still miss you Jonas. Your spirit is what makes this town so special.
*We forgot to mention that Jonas also had another son, Hansi.
Modern Day Oberpfaffelbachen
Today, Oberpfaffelbachen is a vibrant town and proud community. While it may not be the most prosperous, the most technologically advanced, most industrial, the cleanest, the most accessible, or the most scenic, Oberpfaffelbachen is the friendliest town in all of Bavaria. And our future is as bright as the sun above our lovely village. Soon Oberpfaffelbachen will be known and remembered throughout Bavaria, Germany, and Planet Earth.

In March 2014 Mr. S was in Pfaffenwinkel - a town purportedly near Oberpfaffelbachen, which I unfortunately didn't have time to visit.
